2nd Vice President- Miss Melahat Rafiei Khwaja
I immigrated from Iran to the US 1983 as a child with my family. We lived in Northern California until 1989; then moved to Moreno Valley until 1991 and moved to Orange County in the fall of 1991. I attended high school at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills. I earned degrees from California Polytechnic University at Pomona in Biology and Philosophy. Currently live in Costa Mesa.
I currently work for NIAC (National Iranian-American Council; A non-profit, non-partisan group based in Washington DC) as a Consultant. www.niacouncil.org
In June of 2003, I began my involvement in the presidential campaign of Howard Dean, as a volunteer coordinator and major event organizer in Southern California.
Currently, I am the political director of the Democratic Party of Orange County, also served as Campaign Director for Congressional Candidate Jim Brandt (46th CD).
Last fall I worked for the local Orange County party as program director for the Voter Registration and Education Fund. Currently, I am working on a fundraising project for this drive.
